  1. Gangtok spilling down its ridge at sunset

    Gangtok

Day 1 of 6, Arrive: A town strung along a ridge

Climb from the plains at Bagdogra into the hills of Sikkim. Gangtok hangs on its ridge like a string of prayer flags. Spend the evening on car-free MG Marg — momos, thukpa and the first cold air of the mountains.
